Peter Eötvös was awarded the 2018 Terras sem Sombra International Prize in Arts Center of Sine (Portugal) for the relevant role played in the fields of Music, Composition and Musical Directiron, as well as in the artistical relationship with Portugal.
Péter Eötvös receives the 2018 Goethe Medal
Germany’s Goethe-Insitut makes an annual award for those who ‘have performed outstanding service for the German language and for international cultural relations.’ One of this year’s prize winner is Hungarian composer and conductor Péter Eötvös. From the prize page: ‘With his compositions and interpretations of the works of contemporaries during and after the Cold War, the Hungarian composer and conductor Péter Eötvös advanced a common European musical culture and continues to influence it today.’

New York Philharmonic commission
Peter Eötvös is to be commissioned by the New York Philharmonic to compose a work in honour of Henri Dutilleux - the inaugural recipient of The Marie-Josee Kravis Prize for New Music. Dutilleux has personally nominated Eötvös to share in this award - a prize to be presented every two years, recognising extraordinary artistic endeavour in the field of new music.
